"Hi I’m Ed Davies and I am the new Community Archaeology Training Placement at Dyfed Archaeological Trust. I was born and raised in Carmarthenshire, graduated from University of Durham with a BA in Archaeology in 2005, after which I spent the next 6 years working as a professional field archaeologist based in the North East of England. I moved back to Wales the year before last and I enrolled on a Master’s programme at University of Wales Trinity Saint David. I have a few hobbies beyond archaeology like rugby (I am Welsh you know!), gardening, foraging, cooking, home-brewing, reading, walking, darts. I don’t often get enough time to do all of these things though, (nor do them very well either probably) but when I do they’re always fun.
"I’m a fluent Welsh speaker which is important as many of the communities I’ll be working with are too, and I’m looking forward to this year working on engaging young people in communities in the old county of Dyfed. The area has excellent archaeological resources, and the rural nature of it produces significant barriers to traditional methods of community engagement, so part of the challenge is to improve accessibility, as well as to continue the Trust’s work to date."
