Ffion Reynolds, Community Archaeology trainee 2011 - 2012

Meet Ffion:

"My enthusiasm for archaeology and community based work has developed from involvement in several outreach projects over the last 6 years; in connection with my PhD research at Cardiff University and with work at St Fagans: National History Museum. At both institutions, there was a strong outreach element and projects were aimed to engage with a range of audiences, from specific interest groups, local schools to the general public.

"Community archaeology certainly embraces the out of doors, and my own deeper understanding of archaeology and interest in anthropology has grown from my experience of landscape. Having taken inspiration from fieldwork conducted in the Amazon jungle during my PhD, I have since found myself exploring the prehistoric and historic landscapes of Wales and allowing these experiences to inform my theoretical interpretation of the past. I hope to further explore these research interests with community groups during my placement at Cadw, Cardiff."
