Genevieve is completing her CBA trainee placement at Trent & Peak Archaeology in Nottingham, where she has been working with lots of local groups and just received funding for a volunteers project based at a local nature reserve. In 2010 she graduated from the University of Sheffield with an MA in European Prehistory, where she completed research into Neolithic settlement practices in east Yorkshire. As a field archaeologist she has worked on projects ranging from Neolithic Orkney to the Syrian Desert and Roman Italy, but always enjoyed those that involved an element of public engagement. She believes in the importance of heritage (especially Prehistory) for young people, and sees community archaeology as a great way to enthuse people though hands-on experience and involvement. As a keen writer she also hopes to bring the past alive for new audiences and that her placement will provide her with opportunities in education and interpretation.
