"Hi, I’m Sadie and my Community Archaeology Training Placement is based at Gwynedd Archaeological Trust in Bangor. I am very excited to start my CATP with GAT, having volunteered with them in the past.
"I began my archaeological journey in 2005 when I decided to study a joint degree in Welsh History with Archaeology at Bangor University. Since then, my love for archaeology has grown and I went on to study an MA in Archaeology at Liverpool University, work at the Great Orme Copper Mines and volunteer for various archaeological organisations.
"The CATP is an excellent opportunity to further my experience and skills in Community Archaeology and share my passion for archaeology, history and heritage with like-minded people. It’s great to be able to stay in Wales to practice my Welsh and engage with local Welsh communities.
The work that GAT achieves is crucial to the archaeological environment of Wales, not only to conserve, manage and record archaeology but to educate and inform the wider public so they are involved in GATs’ good work."
