Feedback your views on the future of societies

Delegates come together in St William's College in York to discuss the future of local societies

The Council for British Archaeology (CBA) faciliated a UK forum in March 2013 for local archaeological and historical societies and community groups. Read the discussion paper and take part in our UK survey.

Join the debate

The forum gave societies the opportunity to explore common issues around evolving their future role, share solutions and develop good practice. Discussion themes included attracting key officers, widening membership diversity, meeting the public demand for hands-on archaeology, the role of campaigning and the pros and cons of going digital.

Complete the CBA's survey to share your views and tell us how we can support you.

The deadline for responses is 27 September 2013. Post to 'Societies forum' at the CBA or email societiesforum@archaeologyUK.org

More resources for societies

The CBA aims to work more closely with active societies across the UK to inform, guide and sustain the future of our archaeology. Feedback from our survey will feed into the development of an online community archaeology resource hub, where societies and groups can share guidance, best practice, case studies and projects and keep in touch.
