Festival of Archaeology
The Festival showcases the very best of archaeology, with special events right across the UK, organised and hosted by museums, heritage organisations, national and countryside parks, universities, local societies, and community archaeologists.
Make a date
Over 1000 events take place across the UK each year to give everyone the chance to experience our unique archaeological heritage for themselves. Read more on the Festival website.
The Festival of Archaeology 2016 will take place from 16-31 July. Follow us on Facebook for the latest news.
Dig in
You don’t have to be an archaeologist to join in - the annual Festival of Archaeology gives you the opportunity to learn about local heritage, see archaeology in action, and get hands on with history.
Summer holiday activities
The Festival will kick off the summer holidays from 16-31 July 2016. Events range from excavation open days, behind-the-scenes tours and workshops, to guided walks, talks and finds identifications, family fun days, and more. Search the online listings for what's on in your area. New events are being added every day.
Archaeology all year round
If you enjoy the Festival, why not keep up with the latest in archaeology, and get more involved, by joining the CBA, the established voice for archaeology here in the UK.
Membership benefits include British Archaeology magazine in print and online, member newsletters and publications, offers, and invitations to join fellow members and archaeology experts at our special events and weekends.
