The Heritage Lottery Fund has approved a grant of £54,800 to part-fund the continued excavations along High Dyke in Navenby, Lincolnshire. Excavation in 2009 recovered remains dating from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD but archaeologists believe it could date back to the earliest phase of the Roman invasion.
The Navenby Archaeology Group (NAG) will be match funding the rest of the excavation costs up to £110,000. For more information see the NAG website. Preparations and scheduling for this exciting new project are now underway and on-site work will begin in Spring.
