Disappointing news on Stonehenge tunnel

The CBA is disappointed in the decision of the Secretary of State to give the proposed road tunnel at Stonehenge the green light, contrary to the advice of his planning inspectors.

In our advice and evidence we have consistently highlighted the importance of the archaeology and the need for a robust archaeological assessment and strategy. As part of this process we raised numerous technical issues within the environmental assessment and archaeological strategy.

We wait to see if these have been addressed and continue to express concerns about the level of harm to the nationally and internationally important archaeological landscape around Stonehenge.
