Festival of Archaeology 2020

Festival of Archaeology 2020 11-19 July and 24 October - 1 November

The CBA Festival of Archaeology is back for its 29th year in 2020 offering hundreds more opportunities to get involved in archaeology across the UK.

In response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year's Festival will take place in two parts with a series of digital events in July and on the ground events in October.

From 11th to 19th July we will be running a digital Festival, with a programme of online events for people to take part in.

Then from 24th October to 1 November we will have a range of on the ground Festival events with various activities from local societies, museums, heritage organisations and other groups who will be offering the public the chance to find out more about archaeology.

As always there will be a huge range of activities to choose from including site visits, skills training opportunities, demonstrations, museum tours, talks and walks and plenty of family friendly days.

This year the CBA Festival of Archaeology theme is Climate and Environment, something that we are becoming increasingly aware of as a society. During the Festival we hope to share some of the stories of environmental change and its impact on human activity from the Mesolithic through to the present day and highlight the effect our changing climate is having on archaeological sites today.

Visit the Festival of Archaeology website to find out more and discover what's happening in your local area.
