Festival of Archaeology 2019

We are delighted to announce the 2019 Festival of Archaeology will take place from 13 - 28 July.

Following a year off in 2018, the 2019 Festival of Archaeology is back bigger and better, and will form part of the 75th anniversary of the Council for British Archaeology.

Our new website includes online registration guides and publicity materials for event organisers- so it’s even easier than before to get involved and host an event or create activities for the summer.

Visit the Festival website to discover what' happening in your local area or download the 2019 Festival of Archaeology booklet to get an idea of some of the events happening across the UK.

Festival events

In 2017 over 1,000 events were put on by 318 organisers across the UK and we want to build on this success for 2019.

Find out more about organising Festival of Archaeology events by downloading our Events Ideas below.

If you're hosting an archaeology event during the Festival there is still time to add the details to our website. All you need to do is register and follow the simple steps to get details of your event uploaded. We'll accept new events right up until the Festival begins on 13th July.
