Events and Activities
These include lectures, workshops, research seminars, activity days and question and answer sessions. Through such events, the public can discover how to participate in archaeology and learn new archaeological skills.
Additional events are held for archaeology groups, to support them in attracting different audiences, utilising new digital technologies, and connecting with the wider community.
The CBA also coordinates the annual Festival of Archaeology, a two-week programme of archaeology events across the UK for people of all ages and backgrounds. Festival events include guided walks, exhibitions, excavations, activities, and more.
Almost all our events are free, as we aim to give everybody the opportunity to partake in and be inspired by archaeology, broadening engagement with the field.
We also hold a variety of events targeted specifically at young people, many of which are run by or for the Young Archaeologists' Club. Throughout the year we also run activity days through our partnership with English Heritage's flagship youth engagement project, Shout Out Loud. These have included exploring the prehistory of Beeston Crag in Cheshire through flint-knapping and metalworking, exploring archaeology through photography at Wrest Park and learning all about ostearchaeology at Barton-upon-Humber.

Events calendar
Our events calendar is our comprehensive round-up of archaeological events taking place around the UK. For convenience, we have divided the different archaeology events into the following categories.
- Conferences: Major archaeology or heritage-themed conferences in the UK and abroad.
- Fieldwork: Opportunities to take part in a dig, from basic taster days to multi-week projects.
- Short Courses: Ranging from one-off talks to multi-day courses on important archaeological topics.
- Talks and Lectures: Listings for both live and online upcoming talks.
- Networking and Skills Development: Opportunities to meet new people in the discipline, share ideas, and learn new skills.
